On 23 April 2015, it was announced that v flower would receive an update for the VOCALOID4 engine.

According to Miwasiba, Flower is female. The reason for the boy-ish design is because 'perfect flowers' have both pistil and stamen and this design is supposedly to be the 'stamen' and the v3 flower design is the 'pistil'.

Miwasiba also posted Flower's concept art on twitter to clear up her gender drama. Here's the concept art:

V4 Flower is actually an update for Flower from Vocaloid 3. Flower, the mascot character of the software v flower, is a VOCALOID3 library. Her voice was described by HoneyWorks as a "a charming female vocal" with a powerful, androgynous-sounding voice. The vocal allows her to have the reserved female tone needed for slow rock songs yet have the heavy sound needed for faster and more upbeat rock. She has a sad tone of voice in her bass, this is designed to give her the impression of a kuudere in nature. Her treble has a boyish sound to it.

English

After that, many years have passed, and the scene has dimmed
Time is cruel, then kind
The town I live in with you, and the future we promised
Everything fades under the sunlight

The frozen clock hand begins to scratch away at our time
Despair relief and the washed away rain slowly fade away

That's strange, even so, an important place deep in my chest aches
And your voice that calls my name, is as vivid as always
The thorns that chould have disappeared are always piercing me, so I don't forget
These feelings are a new chain, we will carry them forever

I don't regret anything, I just suddenly think
Of a word where everything went well

After a different meeting, I would have a different love
And by now, it would have worked out well
Like the calm after a storm
My broken heart has been healed

but I wonder why every time the seasons change, you call out
To this irreplaceable, along with our memories

From now on, always, you probably will continue to live inside my heart
In that time which we can't return, our figures laugh without knowing pain
It's sad, witout means, we are separated like this
as long as these feeling are smoldered, we'll always, always just be friends
